A Cover and a Feature in M Magazine's Home Design Issue!

9/19/2017

What an amazing and humbling accomplishment it is to be featured on the cover of October's Home Design issue of M Magazine! The story continues in the article Modern Character on page 53. A sincere thank you to M's Editor, Jen Kent, as well the the spectacular photography taken by Doug Edmunds.

Yet again, this was such a fun project to work on, but knowing that your clients are using the design you have created to its full capacity is the most rewarding. It was so exciting to design each space based off the architectural detail created by Steve Peskie along with great direction from the homeowners. With a busy family, EVERYTHING had to be durable, cleanable and worry-free. Check….check…..and check!

Working with photographer Doug Edmunds on capturing that perfect picture was quite easy.  We both had ideas of what the shots should look like and thank goodness, we were on the same page! Doug has such a masterful way of making the photos sharp, eye-catching and finished. And Editor Jen Kent's intuitive method of conducting an interview and writing flawlessly expresses what was said.

What you didn’t see in the photos was me running around, moving, tweaking and unloading a truck full of accessories.  That’s the fun part, no doubt!

Here you can see us all discussing what the perfect
shot would be and, well, we found it!
And what's a photo shoot without the entire family? The homeowner's dog Fergie didn't need much convincing to strike the perfect pose!
Here are some exclusive shots that didn't make the cut:

Now that you've seen the finished rooms, here's a look at some of the 'before' photos:
The new architecture of this house was very to easy to work with.  The bones were there; the space just needed to be designed and filled. You can see how the living room transformed by just simply rearranging the furniture and putting in a few finishing touches. The dining room, family room and master bedroom were 'open pallets', so you can imagine my creative juices began to flow! After listening to what the clients wanted, a couple different floor plans were created and we chose the best fit for the family.
