Fringe is proud to announce that it will donate a portion of all sales to the Washington County Humane Society, effective now through December 31st, 2016!

The Washington County Humane Society’s (WCHS) mission is to protect animals from suffering and cruelty, to provide care for animals afflicted by neglect and abandonment, and to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption and compassion. Since WCHS does not euthanize for space nor does it receive government funding or any funding from state or national humane organizations, donations are a necessity to the shelter.

“The Washington County Humane Society is a small, non-profit organization and it’s facing many challenges due to the rising medical costs to the animals.  When we became aware of the shelter’s needs, we wanted to do all we could to help” said Fringe’s co-owner Jessica Forston.

Did you know that each week the WCHS goes through approximately 1,000 lbs. of clay litter, 200 lbs. of dog food, and 200 lbs. of cat food, along with many other supplies? That’s approximately 52,000 lbs. of litter and approximately 20,800 lbs. of dog and cat food a year!

Why they need your help:
  • Since they do not euthanize for space and do not put a time limit on adoptable animals, they can remain in care for many, many months, sometimes surpassing a year.
  • The average approximate length of stay of dogs is 2-3 weeks, while cats are closer to 2-3 months due to the large volume.
  • The approximate average cost to care for a dog until it’s adopted is $350, with a cat ranging from $750-$1000. Multiply those numbers by 3,000, the average number of animals we care for each year, to see how the costs can really add up!
  • In addition to general care, many of the animals need medical treatment for illness and injuries.
